What are the frames made of? What are the quality standards?
All frames are made of aluminum profiles according to the EN 755-9 standard. This European standard describes quality in terms of maximum allowable deviations from
the shape when manufacturing the frame and frame components. Read more about the standards applied here.
Ekodome hubs are made of A360 (US) alloy. A360 is an aluminum grade that is extra hard (stiff) and can withstand high pressure/resistance which is important for frame stiffness. In addition, this aluminum
kind of higher protection against rusting even in wet, humid and hot conditions.
EkoDome’s manufacturing partner for all aluminum profiles work according to ISO9001 certification.
Can I assemble the dome myself? How much time does this take?
Depending on the size of the frame and your experience, you can build the Dome with one or more people. Construction-wise it is not complicated, but the larger the Dome the more time you need. The small models
like the LUNA you put together in 3 to 4 hours. You can assemble the TERRA with two people in one day. For the Terra, Stellar and Cosmos frames, you will need proper ladders and/or aerial platforms.
Applying panels requires more time, depending on the type of panel you use. We recommend always using an aerial platform when covering the Dome, TERRA, STELLAR or COSMOS.
Disassembling a frame takes about 1/4 of the assembly time.
What tools do I need for assembly?
Not much! A cordless screwdriver with a Torx and/or Hex bit and a Torx and Hex set. You will also need a ladder and, on the larger models, an ability to work safely at height such as a
aerial platform or a small (paint) scaffold.
